But it is a fact (although) they don't have as many turnovers as we do."Koetter changed quarterbacks for the third time this season, benching Fitzpatrick during Sunday's 38-35 loss to the New York Giants.Winston, benched last month after throwing four interceptions in a loss at Cincinnati, entered the game after Fitzpatrick was picked off three times in falling behind 24-7 and led touchdown drives on four consecutive possessions.Koetter said Monday he'd made a decision on which quarterback will start Sunday's home game against San Francisco, but he did not want to announce it because he had not yet talked to Winston and Fitzpatrick individually."Even though I know what we're going to do, I'm not going to be able to say it today because I would never tell the media before I told the quarterbacks themselves," Koetter said.The 35-year-old Fitzpatrick began the season as the starter while Winston, the No. 1 overall pick from the 2015 draft, was serving a three-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy.Since topping 400 yards passing in back-to-back wins over New Orleans and Philadelphia, Fitzpatrick has lost five consecutive starts. Winston is 1-2 as a starter this season and also has played twice in relief of Fitzpatrick.The common denominator in the team's seven losses is the team has fallen behind early and been unable to escape double-digit deficits. In wins over the Saints, Eagles and Cleveland Browns, the Bucs led most of the way before holding on at the end."Almost every game we get some beautiful, beautiful play at quarterback. [Barrett] at Ohio State,” Haskins told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on the RapSheet and Friends podcast. “Whatever team drafts me, I’ll be able to sit back and learn from the guy that’s there and be able to compete with him and push him, but know that a guy’s there because he’s a veteran, he’s done it before, he’s professional.”That has to appeal to a Giants team which is still all-in on Manning as their best option at quarterback. Quinnen Williams (as opposed to Alabama offensive tackle Jonah Williams) isn’t likely to fall to the Giants at sixth overall. He is widely regarded as one of the three best players in the draft, and commonly called the best player in the draft. But it is within the realm of possibility, and he is the one player we can say unequivocally that Dave Gettleman would draft regardless of who else is on the board.Gettleman’s draft tendenciesThere’s a reason why I say that the Giants would select Williams over any other player in this draft: Dave Gettleman loves him some defensive tackles. In a piece for The Ringer, looking at some of the biggest draft tendencies in the NFL, Robert Mays identifies the defensive line, and defensive tackle position in particular, as the apple of Gettleman’s eye. That Gettleman loves defensive linemen shouldn’t be much of a surprise as it is a trait he shares with Jerry Reese (who drafted either an offensive lineman, defensive lineman, or both in the first three rounds of eight of his eleven drafts) and both of them learned under Ernie Accorsi.
